About Me
The Colombia Solidarity Blogspot is a community of intellect; the collective posts of English speaking human rights observers accompanying Colombian social movements. It seeks to help counter the selective and bias reporting on the conflict by the corporate media both within Colombia and worldwide. It is founded on the belief that we can learn a huge deal from Colombian social movements in their attempts to overcome the violence and exploitation of the bloodiest country in the Western Hemisphere. The authors are opposed to US and British military intervention and aid to Colombia. It opposes the 'Democratic Security' of President Alvaro Uribe Velez which is deepening the war and human rights crisis in the country. It also opposes the penetration of foreign capital which (accompanied by paramilitary violence) is extracting resources at the expense of the Colombian people and flora and fauna. The project is an initiative of the Colombia Solidarity Campaign UK (see link). The blog also aims to serve as a web based point of research and we encourage readers to make full use of the extensive links list.
